We found out that we were pregnant!

August 15th, 2006

We had our first doctors appointment today, with the nurse practitioner.......she could barely find a heart beat, saying that the baby was very active in there.  Go figure we thought, if she only knew what the parents were like. huh?

We have our ultrasound appointment and the first visit with the doctor today.  Well much to our surprise when I laid down on the ultrasound table and lifted my shirt the tech gave us an akward look and asked if we were sure on our dates.  From what we knew we were, until he swiped my belly and asked if twins ran in the family? yikes!  We looked at each other and came to the conclusion that Ryan's grandpa was a twin and that I had twins on my side also.  The tech continued and said well heres one of your babies and heres the other.......we were completely speechless......yes even I was (eventhough thats hard to believe).  We then decided that we were going to find out what we were having......we couldn't quite tell what  Baby A was but there was no guessing that Baby B was a BOY!  We couldn't wait to tell everyone the doubly exciting news.

September 22nd, 2006

Today we are scheduled to visit a high risk doctor just to rule out any problems that we could have with a multiple pregnancy.

We had to have another ultrasound which was very quiet and tense, giving Ryan and I the feeling that something was wrong.  We did indeed find out though that we were going to be having IDENTICAL TWIN BOYS!   Just to find out  a couple of hours later that there was something extremely wrong.  We have what you call TTTS Syndrome (twin-to-twin transfusion sydrome) which means that one of the babies (Baby B) is getting more blood and producing to much amniotic fluid than the other and the other baby (Baby A) is considered "stuck" without any amniotic fluid around him.

Now we have a few options: 1. we could abort the babies- which was not an option we would ever choose.  2. have amnio-reductions to reduce the fluid around baby B.  3. have the FLOC surgery- which is the laser surgery to seperate the blood vessels between the twins.

We decided to start with number 2 and if needed we could also do number 3.  We then went back to the ultrasound room for a amnio reduction.  The doctor removed 700 ccs, and scheduled me another appointment for the following week.

We have another appointment with the high risk doctor....who is now my doctor from here on out.  Everything seemed to be good as planned....he recommended to us that we name the babies just incase something sudden was to happen.  So now we need to decide not only on one name but two!

September 26th, 2006

We named the boys:

Baby A will be Aaron John Czarnezki.

Baby B will be Ethan Ryan Czarnezki.

September 27th, 2006 thru October 11th, 2006
We have had numerous appointments and numerous amnio-reductions, with no changes or any progress, and with Ethan's heart thickening and organs starting to look abnormal we have decided the next best thing to do is try the laser surgery.  We will be heading to Milwaukee as soon as possible to be evaluated and confirm that the surgery is an option for us.

October 5th, 2006
Was put on bedrest today, hoping it will help.

October 15th, 2006
Went to Milwaukee to attempt the laser surgery to seperate the boys and make the odds better for them to be carried to term and survive.  With three placentas and being dilated to 3 cm they decided that they would try to complete the procedure to the best of their abilities.  While trying to determine were the best place was to zap the vessels and arteries blood started to pool and make the surgery impossible to complete.  So they put a cerclage in and hoped for the best.

October 16th, 2006
We still have two baby boys' heartbeats and very active movement out of the both of them.

October 22nd and October 29th, 2006
Had very good reports at the next two appointments.  For some mysterious reason Ethan's heart stopped thickening and even began to shrink and his organs are looking normal again.  As for Aaron he even had measurable fluid around him for the first time and had a noticeable bladder on ultrasound.  We couldn't ask for anything better to be happening right now.

November 1st, 2006
Started to have contractions, am going to try to wait them out till my next appointment which is scheduled for tomorrow, to see if when they do an amnioreduction they maybe go away on there own.
